The Government in various is supplementing its efforts to states in order to develop entrepreneurial skill among the masses. They do so by conducting various training programs falling under various trades to cater to requirements of different sets of target groups in the areas of manufacturing, business and services sectors.

Unemployment is  a foremost challenge that India is facing. With a significant and unique demographic advantage, India, however, has immense potential to innovate, raise entrepreneurs and create jobs for the benefit of the nation and the world.

The Government of India has undertaken several initiatives and instituted policy measures to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the country. Job creation is a foremost challenge facing India. 

In the recent years, a wide spectrum of new programmes and opportunities to nurture innovation have been created by the Government of India across a number of sectors. From engaging with academia, industry, investors, small and big entrepreneurs, non-governmental organizations to the most undeserved sections of society. 

Government as also recognize the importance of women entrepreneurship and hence therefore ensure that all policies geared toward  equal opportunities toward both men and women. Government of India are bringing more and  more women toward forefront of India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by providing access to loans, networks, markets and training.







Startup India

Startup India is an initiative of the Government of India. The campaign was first announced by Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi during his 15 August 2015 address from the Red Fort, in New Delhi.Through the Startup India initiative, Government of India promotes entrepreneurship by mentoring, nurturing and facilitating startups throughout their life cycle. With a 360 degree approach to enable startups, the initiative provides a comprehensive four-week free online learning program, has set up research parks, incubators and startup centres across the country by creating a strong network of academia and industry bodies.


Make in India

Make in India, a type of Swadeshi movement covering 25 sectors of the economy, was launched by the Government of India on 25 September 2014 to encourage companies to manufacture their products in India and also increase their investment. Designed to transform India into a global design and manufacturing hub.

It came as a powerful call to India’s citizens and business leaders, and an invitation to potential partners and investors around the world to overhaul out-dated processes and policies, and centralize information about opportunities in India’s manufacturing sector. This has led to renewed confidence in India’s capabilities among potential partners abroad, business community within the country and citizens at large. The plan behind Make in India was one of the largest undertaken in recent history

Atal Innovation Mission

Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) was launched by the NITI Ayog as an innovation promotion platform involving academics, entrepreneurs, and researchers utilizing national and international experience to promote the culture of innovation, R and D in India particularly in technology oriented areas.

The AIM along with Self-Employment and Talent Utilization (SETU) are Government of India’s the leading ventures to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. The Atal Innovation Mission has two core functions:

Entrepreneurship promotion through Self-Employment and Talent Utilization, wherein innovators would be supported and mentored to become successful entrepreneurs.
Innovation promotion: to provide a platform where innovative ideas are generated.

Digital India

Digital Technologies which include Cloud Computing and Mobile Applications have emerged as catalysts for rapid economic growth and citizen empowerment across the globe. Digital technologies are being increasingly used by us in everyday lives from retail stores to government offices. They help us to connect with each other and also to share information on issues and concerns faced by us. In some cases they also enable resolution of those issues in near real time.

The objective of the Digital India Group is to come out with innovative ideas and practical solutions to realize Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a digital India. Prime Minister Modi envisions transforming our nation and creating opportunities for all citizens by harnessing digital technologies. His vision is to empower every citizen with access to digital services, knowledge and information. This Group will come up with policies and best practices from around the world to make this vision of a digital India a reality.

Stand Up India

Launched in 2015, Stand-Up India seeks to leverage institutional credit for the benefit of India’s underprivileged. It aims to enable economic participation of, and share the benefits of India’s growth, among women entrepreneurs, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Towards this end, at least one women and one individual from the SC or ST communities are granted loans between Rs.1 million to Rs.10 million to set up greenfield enterprises in manufacturing, services or the trading sector. The Stand-Up India portal also acts as a digital platform for small entrepreneurs and provides information on financing and credit guarantee. 

Jan Dhan Aadhaar Mobile

JAM, for the first time, is a technological intervention that enables direct transfer of subsidies to intended beneficiaries and, therefore, eliminates all intermediaries and leakages in the system, which has a potential impact on the lives of millions of Indian citizens. Besides serving as a vital check on corruption, JAM provides for accounts to all undeserved regions, in order to make banking services accessible down to the last mile.

Entrepreneurship is both the study of how new businesses are created as well as the actual process of starting a new business – the term is used interchangeably. An entrepreneur is someone who has an idea and who works to create a product or service that people will buy, by building an organization to support those sales.

Entrepreneurship is now a popular college major, with a focus on studying new venture creation.

Starting a business generally requires:

  • A business concept or idea involving a product, service, process, or new technology
  • People to support the work, whether as employees, vendors, or advisers
  • A process by which the product or service will be delivered, or the technology will be developed
  • Enough money to support the development of the idea to the point that it generates revenue


Entrepreneurial Characteristics
There are various characteristics of successful entrepreneurship

In today's age of entrepreneurship, Akhori and Mishra have consider the following attitudes as closely related to entrepreneurship

  • Tendency to take moderate risk: there are tendency among entrepreneurs to set goals that have certain among of risk , not a common goal pursued many others. They take up things and tasks that have certain amount of risk attached to  it. They tempt toward new ideas, activities, time etc
  • An eye for economic opportunity:  Entrepreneurs are highly perceptive and keen in locating business opportunities for economic exploitation in a given situation, be it a festival,social, or a recreation of many events. This tendency differentiate them from non entrepreneurs.
  • Imaginative: Some people have a tendency to use imagination for perceiving the not so apparent aspect of a given situation .
  • Believe that they can change the environment: Entrepreneur believes that the have capacity to change the environment. They do not leave every thing on luck or force that are beyond their control. 
  • Enjoy freedom of expression: Entrepreneurs enjoy the freedom of expression and action. They do not like getting instructions.
  • Analyzing situation and planning action: They are the one who perform all activities starting from analyzing  the situation to actually perform the activities intended to take benefits from those situation.
  • Satisfaction from successful completion of task: Entrepreneurs always value performance specially outstanding performance. They have a tendency to get satisfaction from such feedback abut their performance. They like to complete their task against all odds by mobilizing resources and availing help from all available sources.

What Kind of Business to Start?

Finding a need or opportunity in the market and filling it is at the core of entrepreneurship and small business success. That doesn’t mean that starting a business similar to one already in existence can’t be successful, however.

In considering what kind of business to start, assess:

  • Your interests
  • Your background and experiences
  • Your financial resources
  • Unmet market needs
  • Problems you can solve
  • Your network and connections

With an estimated 50% of new businesses failing in the first five years, entrepreneurs will also need to be committed, persistent, and adaptable to beat the odds.
